First Innings Highlights

Here are First Innings Key Moments:

Disastrous Start for India Captains

India Captains lost Gaurav Tomar in the very first over, bowled by Diwesh Pathania for just 1 off 2 balls at 2/1 in the 1st over. Hashim Amla and Sheldon Jackson then tried to rebuild, putting together 21 runs in 22 balls for the second wicket. However, Ravi Jangid trapped Amla LBW for 12 off 17 balls (1 six) at 23/2 in the 5th over. The India Captains powerplay yielded a meagre 32 runs for 2 wickets, setting the tone for what turned out to be a very difficult innings.

Ajit Chandila Tears Through the Middle Order

From 23/2, things went from bad to worse for India Captains. Ajit Chandila was virtually unplayable, finishing with sensational figures of 4/22 in 4 overs at an economy of just 5.50. He first removed Rajesh Bishnoi (12 off 14, 2 fours), caught by Abhishek Raut at 40/3 in the 8th over. Then, he dismissed Sheldon Jackson (17 off 20, 1 four) in similar fashion at 45/4 in the 10th over. Subsequently, Ritik Sharma fell to Chandila for 3 off 8 at 53/5 in the 12th over. On the very first ball of the next over, Rajat Bhatia had Aniruddha Joshi caught by Diwesh Pathania for 8 at 53/6. Two wickets at the same score of 53 on successive deliveries across the over change effectively ended any hopes of a competitive total.

Parvinder Awana’s Lone Cameo Falls Short

Anup Ahlawat followed shortly after, bowled by Chandila for 2 at 56/7 in the 14th over, giving the legspinner his fourth wicket. At that stage, India Captains were staring at a sub-70 total. However, Parvinder Awana provided some late entertainment with a quickfire 21 off 15 balls featuring one four and two sixes at a strike rate of 140.00. His partnership of 25 runs in 21 balls with captain Imtiaz Ahmed pushed the score past 80. Nevertheless, Diwesh Pathania returned to remove Awana at 81/8 in the 17th over. Ravi Jangid then bowled Shailesh Bhondekar for a duck at 83/9, and Rajat Bhatia wrapped up the innings by dismissing Imtiaz Ahmed for 4 at 87 all out in 18.3 overs. Aside from Awana’s cameo, it was a batting performance the India Captains would want to forget quickly.

Second Innings Highlights

Here are Second Innings Key Moments:

Parvinder Awana Gives India Captains a Glimmer of Hope

Parvinder Awana struck on the very first ball of the chase, bowling captain Rajat Bhatia for a golden duck at 0/1. Suddenly, there was a flicker of hope for India Captains. Awana then removed Punit Bisht as well, caught by Hashim Amla for 2 off 7 balls at 16/2 in the 3rd over. At that point, Southern Super Stars were wobbling at 16/2 with both openers back in the dugout. However, Hamilton Masakadza had other plans entirely.

Masakadza’s Unbeaten 61 Seals It in Style

Walking in at 0/1 with the team in early trouble, Hamilton Masakadza played one of the most destructive innings of LLC 2026 so far. He smashed an unbeaten 61 off just 30 balls with seven fours and four sixes at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 203.33. Together with Dilshan Munaweera (20 not out off 18, 2 fours), they put together an unbroken 72-run partnership in just 39 balls for the third wicket. The pair scored at nearly 2 runs per ball and never let the India Captains bowlers settle into any rhythm.

Target Chased Down Inside 10 Overs

Southern Super Stars raced to 52 runs in the powerplay despite losing both openers early. From there, the required rate was barely above a run a ball. Consequently, India Captains’ bowlers had nowhere to hide. Ritik Sharma conceded 24 runs in his only over, while Akshay Wakhare leaked 16 from his one over. Captain Imtiaz Ahmed sent down 2 overs for 13 runs but conceded 5 wides in the process. Only Veer Pratap Singh (2-0-11-0) showed some control, but by then the match was already out of reach. SSS reached 88/2 in just 9.2 overs, completing the chase with 64 balls to spare. It was the most one-sided result of the LLC 2026 season so far.
