First Innings Highlights

Kennar Lewis and Morne van Wyk gave Konark Suryas Odisha a blistering start, putting on 61 runs in just 36 balls for the opening wicket. Lewis was the aggressor, smashing 33 off 20 balls with four fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 165.00. He was particularly brutal on Veer Pratap Singh, who conceded 44 runs in his 3 overs without picking up a single wicket. Van Wyk complemented him well with 27 off 19 (3 fours, 1 six) before falling to Akshay Wakhare at 70/2. KSO raced to 61 in the powerplay, setting a strong platform.

The middle overs brought India Captains back into the contest. Imtiaz Ahmed bowled Kennar Lewis to break the opening stand at 61/1 in the 6th over. Jermaine Blackwood struggled to find his rhythm, managing just 23 off 29 balls before Gaurav Tomar bowled him at 106/4. Chirag Gandhi contributed 9 off 10 before being trapped LBW by Samar Quadri, who was the standout bowler for India Captains with remarkable figures of 4-0-16-1 at an economy of just 4.00. Between overs 7 and 15, KSO scored only 45 runs for three wickets, and the innings was in danger of stalling.

Jesal Karia changed the game completely. Walking in at 106/4, he forged a crucial 54-run partnership in 30 balls with Faiz Ahmed Khan (17 off 20). Karia finished unbeaten on 37 off 24 balls with an eye-catching seven fours, striking at 154.17. His boundaries came in clusters and completely shifted the momentum back to KSO in the death overs. The last 5 overs yielded 64 runs, turning a potentially ordinary 150 into a much more challenging 170/5. Extras also played a role, with India Captains conceding 23 extras including 6 wides and 3 no-balls.

Second Innings Highlights

Priyank Panchal and Hashim Amla opened the chase for India Captains and put together a solid 39-run stand in 29 balls. Panchal looked fluent, striking 24 off 22 balls with a four and two sixes, before Rituraj Singh had him caught by Jesal Karia at 39/1 in the 5th over. Amla carried on with his typical composed approach, scoring 24 off 18 with three fours. Saurin Thakar ended his stay at 63/2 with a catch by Morne van Wyk. The India Captains scored 54 in the powerplay, keeping pace with the required rate.

Rajesh Bishnoi provided a brief spark with 9 off 6 balls (2 fours) before Malinda Pushpakumara had him caught by Ankit Rajpoot at 84/3 in the 10th over. Aniruddha Joshi then injected real urgency with an aggressive 27 off 18 balls (3 fours, 1 six) at a strike rate of 150.00. He and captain Saurabh Tiwary added 34 runs in 26 balls for the fourth wicket. Pushpakumara broke through again, removing Joshi at 118/4 in the 14th over. Tiwary followed shortly after for 17 off 21, caught by Ankit Rajpoot off Rituraj Singh at 118/5 in the very next over. Tiwary fell on the very first ball of the next over, meaning two wickets on successive deliveries turned the match firmly in KSO’s favour.

Anup Ahlawat tried to rescue the chase with a quick-fire 8 off 5 including a six, but Jesal Karia bowled him at 144/6. From there, the innings collapsed. Gaurav Tomar (14 off 17), Veer Pratap Singh (0 off 4), and Imtiaz Ahmed (4 off 5) all fell cheaply as Ankit Rajpoot (2/16 in 3 overs) and Saurin Thakar (2/29 in 4 overs) tightened the screws. India Captains lost their last five wickets for just 34 runs and finished at 152/9. Konark Suryas Odisha sealed a comfortable 18-run win to kick off their LLC 2026 campaign on a high.
